Innovation centers help qualify the technology sector in Florianópolis

Florianópolis, known as Silicon Island, stands out for its robust technological ecosystem, made up of around 2,400 companies, of which startups are the highlight. The city, through public policies such as the Municipal Innovation Law, has boosted the sector, resulting in the creation of the Municipal Network of Innovation Centers, in partnership with the Catarinense Technology Association (Acate). This network, made up of the CIA Downtown, CIA Primavera, CIA Sapiens and SOHO centers, offers training, events, marathons and attracts investors, strengthening the technology sector.

Innovation centers, which are fundamental to technological development, date back more than 30 years, when the CETRI Foundation established Florianópolis’ first incubator, the Technological Business Incubator (IET), later renamed the Business Center for Advanced Technology Laboratory (CELTA). This incubator, part of the Certi system, was crucial in establishing an innovation ecosystem in the region. CELTA currently houses 30 companies, contributing to the development and consolidation of innovative ventures in the local market.
